Hi All:

Chapter 2
Discovery
Five minutes later, Putluck arrived at a small mud building about one story high. It had a little chimney on top like the main building, and a little garden of strange fluffy white flowers that made a chirping sound when thirsty. Unlike the main building, this little building had a door, made out of the bark of a tree. As Putluck walked up to the door, he gave two loud knocks, which made a hollow booming sound. There was silence for a moment, then the door opened. A tall female Zonic stood there, her large dark blue eyes shining with happiness, and her light blue necklace shining in the light of a small fire behind her.
“Drilla my dear!” Putluck said, giving her a tight hug. “How are you? Is Gonet at home? I think your Bangles need to be watered. They were chirping pretty loudly when I walked up.” Drilla smiled at him then said,
“I’m doing fine Putluck, thanks. Yes, Gonet is at home. He’s preparing to get us a Gloot for dinner. Well, guess I better go out and water the Bangles. Thanks for letting me know.” As she said this, Gonet came in to view. He wore a black necklace.
“Drilla, who are you talking to my dear? Oh, Putluck! To what do I owe the pleasure?” Putluck smiled at Gonet, then said,
“Did you here the loud boom earlier?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Well, Notac asked me to summon you. He feels that the sound could be a danger to us, and he wants you to go check it out.” Gonet sighed then said,
“Alright, I’ll be there in a minute.”
“I’ll come with you!” Drilla said excitedly, I,”
“No Drilla!” Gonet said harshly, “you will stay here! The baby is due soon, and there’s know telling what this thing might be.” With a sigh, Drilla went back inside.
As Putluck, Notac, and Gonet walked to where the boom had been heard, Putluck said,
“So Gonet, what do you think it is?”
“I do not know.” Gonet said, “let’s hope nothing dangerous.” As he said this, he gasped a loud, and stopped walking. There, lying on the ground surrounded by scorch marks, was a large black box.
Chapter 3
Heated discussions
Gonet stood, staring open mouthed at the black box. Slowly, he reached out to touch it, but Putluck pulled him back.
“No Gonet! We don’t know what it is!” Notac looked at his two companions worriedly, then picked up a small rock and through it at the box. When nothing happened, he reached out and picked up the box before Putluck or Gonet could stop him. Turning the box over in his hands, he found a switch and flicked it on. Immediately, the box began to glow, and words appeared along with a rhythmic beeping sound.
“Talk to us, we mean you know harm.”
“Wh, what is it?” Putluck asked nervously.
“I don’t know.” Gonet said, carefully taking the box from Notac. “What ever it is, it appears as if their trying to communicate with us. What kind of device is this? It’s definitely other worldly. We must get back to the base and speak to the counsel about this.”
Back at the main building, the Zonics gabbled on and on about the discovery of the black box, until Gonet had the sense to shut them up.
“Please every one!” he cried, “we don’t know who this race is, or where they come from. All we know is that they are trying to communicate with us. I do not yet understand why, but they could be a danger to our race and our planet. We must all band together to find out who this other race is, and what they want.” As he finished speaking, Gonet handed the box to Notac. “Notac, please see if you can find anything that might tell us more about this race. Please be careful.” Everyone watched as Notac took the box from Gonet and flicked the switch. The box glowed to life, and something new appeared.
“Gonet!” Notac cried, “look at this! It appears this message came from some large blue planet, very far away. The planet looks to be almost all water, and that’s all I can tell from this.” Gonet sighed, then looked at Notac.
“How long do you think it will take to get there Notac?”
“About six months. But why, your not seriously considering going to this unknown planet, are you Gonet?”
“Yes Notac, I am.”
“But Gonet.” Putluck cut in, “the message said they meant know harm. That’s good enough for me.”
“Well not for me!” Gonet snapped. “We don’t know if that’s true, and I’m not going to take any chances with a new wife and new baby on the way. My priority is my family Putluck!”
“Alright, alright Gonet.” Putluck said, a look of surrender on his face. ”But what about Drilla? Her birthday’s in a few days, and you know she doesn’t like to miss the coming up of the sun. When were you planning on leaving?” Gonet sighed then said,
“I know Putluck, but that can’t be helped. We have to leave, We’ll be leaving today.”
“Today, we?” Notac said.
“Yes, I want to take you Notac, Putluck, and Drilla with me.”
“What!” Putluck and Notac cried,
“Gonet, you can’t be serious!” Putluck cried,
“Drilla is very close to giving birth!” Notac shot back. “The journey could be dangerous! Can’t you have someone from the counsel keep an eye on her?”
“No Notac, I can’t!” Gonet cried, “I want to keep her safe, but I can’t leave her! I want to be there for the birth! You know all first time mothers have a much greater chance of dying during childbirth!”
“Exactly, she has even a greater chance of that happening on a spaceship on a mission to a planet that could be hostel!” Putluck cried. “Let someone else go in your place Gonet! Think of Drilla’s well being!” Gonet stood up, preparing to leave.
“Please Gonet.” Putluck said gently, “think about what your about to do. Please, don’t do this. We’ll come with you, but please don’t bring Drilla.”
“It can’t be helped. I have to go speak with her.” Gonet said, before leaving the building.
Drilla sat on a rocky ledge, her feet in the black sea. Her friends Gwana, and Marca sat on either side of her. Gwana wore a brown necklace, and Marca green. Not far away from the three friends swam a group of strange creature’s marine mammals called Gloocas. They were a pale white, with beady black eyes, a long sword like nose, short raiser sharp teeth, and stubby fins. They were the only mammal in the black sea. The rest of the creatures were fish and arthropods. As Drilla and her friends watched the Gloocas, Gwana asked,
“So Drilla, did Gonet ever tell you what’s going on with that loud boom we heard?”
“No Gwana, he,” her answer was cut short as someone called her name.
“Drilla, Drilla! Thank goodness, there you are. Come, we must go.” Drilla looked at her husband, worry written all over her face.
“Gonet, what are you talking about? Is something wrong?” Gonet sighed, then put his hands on her shoulders.
“Yes my dear. We found the source of the boom. Were leaving to go to the planet where it came from.” Drilla looked at Gonet, both fear and disappointment written on her face now.
“But, why, the baby.”
“Please Drilla.” Gonet said gently, “come back home with me, we’ll discuss it there. You two are welcome to come to.” He said, indicating Gwana and Marca.
Back at the dwelling, Drilla’s eyes were wide with fear as Gonet told her everything.
“B, but Gonet! The baby, it’ll be due in three m, months! I can’t, six months on a ship? What if something happens?” Gonet gave a heavy sigh, then wrapped his arms around Drilla.
“I’ll do everything in my power to make sure nothing happens to you. I promise my dear, I will protect you.”
